This piece was originally drawn in pencil and finished in ink, based on a photograph taken at Balboa at the Beach, a community dance event near Ocean Beach in San Francisco. The photograph, taken by my talented friend, Paulo Sentio, conveyed some of the sweetness of the balboa dance style, which is colloquially referred to as a shuffle hug. This abstraction of the protograph leans into this feeling. The print comes from a digital re-drawing of the original.
